About the Author
Patricia Dalton Haragan is the author of Weeds of Kentucky and Adjacent States: A Field Guide and Wildflowers of the Northeast in the Audubon Fairchild Garden. She is a former botanist for Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy and a former curator of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Herbarium.

Amazon Service-good, the book 'Weeds-not so good!

I received excellent service from Amazon--Good price, quick delivery using free saver shipping.
However, the book is a paperback on cheap paper which makes the hand drawn illustrations hard to match with the real culprit weeds in my garden and lawn. The illustrations absolutely should have been color photographs! If you have an unidentified weed, then carefully choose a book on quality paper and with color photos of each weed. The accompanying descriptions must have been abridged (shortened) from a 8th grade textbook.

LOTS OF WEEDS

I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY WEEDS. THIS BOOK IS GREAT FOR ANYONE THAT HAS A VEG. GARDEN OR FLOWER GARDEN. I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THESE IN MY BACK YARD, AND JUST DIDN'T KNOW THE NAMES OF THEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A GOOD BOOK FOR SCHOOLS TO HAVE IF THEY DON'T ALREADY. I WOULD THINK THAT THE FULTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA (FFA) WOULD BENIFIT THE FROM THIS BOOK. FARMERS WOULD SEE THESE PLANTS IN THERE FIELDS.

Plant trivia

I've been using this guidebook for years. Most of the weeds that you may need to identify are so familiar to you that you shouldn't need a color photograph of the plant. Lord knows, you've been pulling them for years. I like the book because most of the guidebooks don't bother with plants unless they have showy flowers. Wow your friends with your knowledge of plant trivia.
